From Theory to Action: 50 Educators Strengthen Their Green Skills through AELIA
May 29, 2025

The capacity-building training “Training Educators: Sustainable Development from Theory to Practice” was successfully completed under the AELIA Project.

A total of 50 educators participated in the training sessions held on 26 and 28 May 2025, divided into two groups of 25 participants. Attendees included primary and secondary school teachers, non-formal education trainers, teacher trainers, university lecturers and researchers.

The training aimed to familiarise participants with the GreenComp sustainability competence framework, strengthen collaborative skills and support the integration of sustainability into everyday teaching practice and institutional operations.

The programme combined asynchronous and interactive learning. Participants first completed the project’s MOOC on sustainability, gaining foundational knowledge on key concepts and competences. This was followed by an online interactive session via Zoom, where participants worked collaboratively using Padlet to design small-scale sustainability actions and exchange ideas and good practices.

This initiative represents an important step towards fostering a sustainability mindset within educational institutions, empowering educators to translate knowledge into meaningful action.
