Online workshop in Romania: Education for sustainability – a priority in lifelong learning
May 28, 2025

Centrul pentru Promovarea Invatarii Permanente – CPIP, in collaboration with Inspectoratul Școlar Județean Argeș, organized in May 2025 an online workshop in the framework of the AELIA project. The event brought together 55 participants, pre-university teachers, school inspectors, trainers and other actors actively involved in the field of education, who explored together the resources and tools developed in the project.

The workshop focused on the promotion of modern educational tools adapted to the current needs of society and aimed to familiarize participants with the five key training modules developed within the project. It also presented the MOOC platform, an open online course dedicated to teachers and other educators, currently available in English and to be soon available into the languages of all project partners: Greek, Serbian and German and Romanian.

How can teachers contribute to a more sustainable future?

The event facilitated valuable discussions on the role of education for sustainable development, starting from the concrete experiences of the participants, and continuing with practical examples of integrating sustainability into the educational process. Teachers had the opportunity to explore the content of the platform, and discover ways in which they can adapt the materials to the reality of their own classrooms. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is no longer just an option but a necessity! Through the AELIA project, education stakeholders are being supported to better understand the implications of the concept of sustainability, and make it an integrated component of the educational process. In this context, in-service teacher training is essential!

What next?

The platform developed within the AELIA project will soon be available in Romanian, which will allow a wider dissemination among teachers across the country. CPIP and ISJ Argeș, together with the seven project partners, will continue to support the organization of information sessions and training workshops, contributing to the development of an educational community concerned about the sustainability for future generations.
