1) to create more green spaces at schools, have class plants, make use of the school's garden (if it has one)

2) organize projects with students to go out look at the green spaces around the school and take initiative to clean them

3) buying school supplies that are cheap but eco-friendly

Environmental:
It should be possible to bring your own cup from home for using the coffee machines (instead of the plastic or paper ones) as this would minimize pollution on campus.

Social:
Add quiet zones / rooms for relaxation for students to use in between stressful courses or exams

Economic:
Focus on using digital materials to cut printing costs (benefits the environment as well)

Some ideas to implement more sustainability in our small school could be:

environmental:

  • energy scouts: students get assigned to check if lights or devices are out when leaving the classroom
  • recycling stations: we already separate our garbage, but maybe we could integrate a composting one
  • water bottles: we start using only reusable water bottles and no single-use bottle are allowed anymore

social:

  • buddy system: older students support younger ones with assignments or even at conflicts
  • classroom jobs: plant care, collecting/hand out helper
  • compliment wall: with weekly themes "What I like about you"

economic:

  • creative sale: students sell their carfts at parents/teacher day
  • school swap market: students exchange books, games or even clothes
